Room 510, Saturday Morning

Ellie had a pretty good time at prom last night, but she was exhausted when she returned to her room. She barely mumbled a goodnight to Jennifer before crashing fast.

Sleep was good, though. It was probably something Ellie was going to get very little of in the next few days.

No, she was not dreaming. There was a very impatient little girl on the other side of the door. "Mommies! Are you in there?"

Stephanie knew where she was. She knew about Fandom and weird portals and where her parents lived in the dorms. She might be a little impatient, but she was also smart.

"...five more minutes, dad," Jennifer grumbled, turning over in her bed. She propped her pillow up to cover her ears.

Stephanie was not letting up on the loud knocking. "Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!"

Jennifer opened an eye.

"...we probably should open that," she said, looking over at Ellie. "Huh?"

Ellie was now mostly awake. She was a bit more alarmed, especially since Vishuddha was now investigating the door. So she climbed out of the bed, opened the door, and was met by a weetiny hug. "Morning, Mommy!"

Ellie blinked. What?

"...Did she just call you mommy?" Jennifer said, sitting up in her bed and rubbing her eyes. She was prepared to laugh, gently, at her friend's misfortune.

Karma is a bitch.

"You're also my mommy, silly." With that, Stephanie climbed up onto the bed and gave Jennifer a great big hug, too.

Ellie was still over here boggling.

Jennifer hugged the child back out of instinct.

"...I'm pretty sure that's physically impossible," Jennifer said. "Maybe we just look like your mommies?"

"Am from an alt'nate 'verse," Stepahnie explained. "There was a portal!"

"Oh, that explains it," Ellie replied, rubbing her head.

"An alternate universe where..."

Jennifer looked over at Ellie. "Huh."

Well then. This was a surprise.

"Wow." Yeah, Ellie wasn't sure what else to say about that.

She dis have a lot of questions for the little girl, though. "What's your name?"

"Stephanie Elaine Walters!" she proudly announced.

Ellie couldn't help smiling. That seemed like a perfect name.

"That's a good name," Jennifer said, vocalizing her own feelings. "And how old are you?"

She was starting to smile, though. Even if she was really her's, she could help but start to feel attached.

"This many." She held up four fingers and a thumb to emphasize her age.

Ellie had to admit. This child was adorable. Not a surprise considering who her mommies were.

"Wow, no wonder you're so big," Jennifer said, her tone happy and light. "And have you had breakfast yet?"

"Nope, and I'm staaaaarving!" Stephanie replied.

"Well then, you'll need some eggs or something," Ellie grinned. Glancing over at the clock, she added, "I actually have to get ready for work. Will you be okay with her for a little while?"

"Yes, dear," Jennifer said, all smile. "Though my vote is waffles. Yours is the tie-breaker, Stephanie. What do you want?"

"Yes, waffles!" Stephanie bounced a little.

Ellie chuckled slightly. "Waffles it is, then."

"Definitely my girl," Jennifer said. "Let me get dressed and I'll make you waffles."
