Ellie had been missing classes lately. The reason? She had to go home a few times to take care of things at the house she was now responsible for. Problems kept arising at the worst times, it seemed. It was starting to become too much, and she was starting to fall behind. It was frustrating.

There was only one thing she could do about it. She was going home. Not just for a visit. She needed to be there instead of missing classes and paying for portals all the time. She was leaving anyway in a few months. A little earlier than planned wasn't so bad...

Except for the part where she had to break the news to someone very important to her. She called Chuck and then ordered Chinese food. Maybe extra sizzling shrimp would make it easier.

[for the little brother; also, this is sadly going to be Ellie's last post; it was not an easy decision, but something I needed to do; if you want to have gotten a goodbye message from her, you did]

Ellie and Chuck had been home for nearly a week now. It was strange to be back in Encino, which was odd since it was supposed to be home. It just didn't feel like home right now. Maybe because it was now officially in her name after she signed a bunch of forms yesterday.

Cut for a bit of canon angst! )

Ellie's mood was hard to figure out at the moment, all because of one piece of mail sent to her. She knew this day was coming, the day she would learn the house in Encino and other belongings were being left in her name. There were meetings she needed to attend and papers that needed to be signed. Basically, it meant more responsibility.

Cut for slight angst... )

awesomebigsis: (WTF?)
Ellie was so glad it was Saturday. After the dance and drinking a lot of spiked punch, she was very appreciative of the fact she didn't have to set her alarm. Even Vishuddha knew not to wake her.

So when she heard someone knocking on her door, she thought she was dreaming. )

[ooc: was going to code this but it was late when this was written and I fail; also, open]

After class, Ellie stopped at JGOB to purchase a cupcake for herself. After all, today was her birthday. Why not indulge a little in baked goods? It wasn't just any birthday. She could now vote if she wanted to. It also meant she was more likely to be even more responsible in a legal sense. Was she now responsible for the house in Encino? Was she going to be an actual legal guardian of Chuck? Yes, these were things she was thinking about.

For now, she sat on her bed, stuck a candle in the cupcake, and made a wish. Then she stared at the phone in the hopes that maybe one her parents remembered what day it was. It was a long shot, she knew. But it was a wish she didn't want to give up on.

[door and post open; if anyone wants to visit because it's her birthday, feel free somehow knowing it. :)]
awesomebigsis: (Worried)
Ellie was sitting on her bed, leafing through a magazine. Music was playing softly since she had the door open slightly. Vishuddha had been sitting obediently on the floor until something out in the hall got him all agitated. Soon, he was sniffing at the door until he was able to push it open more, taking off down the hall.

"Vishuddha, get back here!" Ellie exclaimed, chasing after him. He ran down the hall of the fifth floor, stopping at a random storage closet that happened to be open.

"Oh no," she muttered, carefully following him in.

She was kind of terrified he had been chasing a gremlin.

[for one!:D]
awesomebigsis: (Annoyed)
Ellie was sitting outside on the steps of her assigned cabin. There was just too much literal baggage in her alcove. There was the big suitcase labeled ABANDONMENT ISSUES. Of course there were many smaller ones labeled DADDY ISSUES. No abandonment luggage set would be complete without MOMMY ISSUES. Then there were the duffels labeled PROTECTIVE OLDER SISTER and NAG. That last one really offended her. Just because she wanted to make sure her brother was safe and taken care of did not mean she was a nag. So what if she made sure he was taking his allergy meds and ate food other than junk once in awhile...

Sigh.

Whatever. She'd just be out here hiding from everything.

Ellie glanced at two phone numbers that were programmed into her cellphone. One was the phone number to her house in Encino. The other was her father's cellphone number. Every now and then, like right now, she pondered calling these numbers, hoping he would answer. Everytime the house phone rang, she was relieved because it meant it hadn't been shut off, yet. Someone was paying the bills, so at least she and Chuck had a place to stay if they ever wanted to go home for whatever reason. That was good to know.

Of course, the continuous ringing meant there wasn't anyone there to answer it. Her dad's cellphone number, like the other times she tried to call, was still disconnected. Wherever he was, he really did not want to be contacted.

She considered deleted the number from her phone, but she just couldn't bring herself to. Not, yet.

[the show finally developed my girl a bit more, so felt inspired; post is open establishy now because I'm not feeling well, bleh]

Ellie was mopey. There was no denying that. Even Vishuddha, who was staying close to his owner, sensed her melancholy mood.

Everytime she looked over at the empty half of her room, she was reminded that her roommate and best friend had left. She couldn't help thinking about how everyone she is close to leaves. First her mother, then her father, and now her best friend. Of course, she understood why Jennifer had to go home. There was a good and compelling reason.

Still, the abandonment issues were strong in this one.

Ellie had a pretty good time at prom last night, but she was exhausted when she returned to her room. She barely mumbled a goodnight to Jennifer before crashing fast.

Sleep was good, though. It was probably something Ellie was going to get very little of in the next few days.

Happy holidays!

Ellie knew this day would come. The day she'd have to learn the whole sordid truth. She just could not keep living a lie! That's why she ordered those DNA kits on the internet a few weeks ago. She had to know the paternity of her beautiful twin babies, a girl and a boy who were conveniently off screen with their nanny at the moment. The guilt was such a hardship. That, and she had to know who to demand child support from.

Now the results were in. She'd agonized for hours as the envelope sat on her dresser, taunting her. Finally, her hand shaking delicately, she tore it open. She finally glanced at the results she'd long been waiting for. Then, a stricken expression on her face, she looked off to the side. This lasted for what seemed an eternity.

[estblishy!

Ellie was currently sitting on her bed just kind of staring off at nothing. She wasn't exactly sure what she was feeling right now. She should be angry or sad or...something.

That's how people were supposed to react when their fathers promised them pancakes for dinner only to disappear without a trace instead. They'd gone to his hotel room to meet him, but he was gone. All packed up and...gone. She really should have known better than to believe he wouldn't flake out on them for one weekend.

He was right about one thing. She and Chuck had each other. He was the only family she could count on. At least he was here.

[ooc: for a few; and the roomie, too, if she'd like]

When Ellie woke up today, everything seemed normal at first. She was in her own room, in her own bed, and still kind of in that not quite awake mode. She was aware of someone's arm around her, though.

Maybe she was dreaming? Yeah, she was still in the stages of waking up and hadn't quite processed much of anything, yet.

[for the person Ellie is waking up with! The roomie, too, if she is so inclined.]

Ellie wanted to push her flight back so she could return to Fandom this weekend with her brother, but he convinced her it was okay to catch the one she had scheduled for today.

There were a lot of emotions she was feeling right now. There was the worry for her dad. At least he seemed to be okay with the plan for both of his kids to attend school all the way across county. Still, she was going to worry. And partially blame herself even though she was in no responsible for his current mental condition. Mostly she felt relief. She'd no longer have to worry about Chuck. At least not as much.

After the long flight, she happily returned to her room and flopped down onto the bed. She could swear jet lag was made even worse traveling though time. Or something. It was good to be back.

[post is totally open!]
awesomebigsis: (Disbelief)
Ellie was fairly certain her father's flakiness and paranoia had gotten worse since she had left. She couldn't help feeling partially responsible. Maybe if she hadn't gone away, her dad wouldn't be cautiously peering out windows muttering about being followed and watched. She wasn't even sure who were supposedly after him. Maybe the CIA or NSA or the men in black. She had no idea.

She had spoken to Chuck over the weekend and suggested he attend school in Fandom with her. It was entirely his decision, but she hoped he'd choose the option to be somewhere stable-ish at this point in their lives.

For now, Ellie sat on the couch idly channel surfing. She wasn't paying any attention to what was on the television, though.

[for one!]
awesomebigsis: (Lonely)
Ellie was all packed. She'd taken care of that last night. Now, she was just sort of hanging out in her room waiting until it was time to leave for the airport. While she waited, she thought about her dad and how he was kind of crazy. And she wondered if that crazy had gotten worse since she left a few months ago. That just lead to her to start second guessing her decision to continue her education in Fandom.

She flopped back onto her bed and stared at the ceiling, wishing it had some great advice to give. This place was weird enough. A talking ceiling could happen. Not this time, though. Ellie sighed.

[door is slightly open as is the post!]

Ellie had gotten a message from Sarah last night that she was leaving town. While she hadn't known Sarah that well, she was sort of a connection to home. She only hoped, as she listened to the message, that Sarah went back to California to find Chuck and take care of him. Maybe settle down with him. But that was only the hopes of a concerned big sister wanting the best for her brother.

The message, at least, made her feel better about the future. She would make sure to do as instructed. With that in mind, she decided it was another good time to call home.
